1. Can you tell us a little about yourself — your background, where you’re from, and what brought you to the marketing field and to Madison? / ¿Cuéntanos un poco sobre ti: tu trayectoria, de dónde eres y qué te trajo al campo del marketing y a Madison?

Hi everyone! I’m Yazmin. Originally from Colombia, I moved to Madison because it is a calm, safe, and beautiful city in which to build a quiet life, while also offering excellent career opportunities. What drew me to marketing was its unique intersection of creativity and human psychology. I love the challenge of understanding what drives people and turning those insights into meaningful, impactful connections.

Originaria de Colombia, me mudé a Madison porque es una ciudad tranquila, segura y hermosa para construir una vida apacible, al mismo tiempo que ofrece excelentes oportunidades de crecimiento profesional. I first discovered AMA Madison when I was looking for a local professional community to connect with. Joining has been incredibly rewarding. From the very beginning, I have felt incredibly welcomed by the other members. It is a space where continuous learning is encouraged, and the chapter has given me a warm environment to grow, share ideas, and meet passionate, like-minded professionals.

As a Latina professional, representation and community matter deeply. Finding a welcoming space in AMA Madison means having a platform where my voice and cultural perspective are valued. When I first joined, I wished there had been more visible, dedicated spaces or spotlight series—like this one—focused on diverse voices, as it helps newcomers immediately feel like they belong.
