In our current topsy-turvy world, everyone is dealing with reduced marketing budgets and being asked to do more with less. This session at the AMA Madison 2020 Annual Conference will teach attendees an easy method to spur ideas for a variety of marketing channels.

Rhonda O’Connor is Director of Marketing at Trility Consulting and CEO of her own company, Grit Marketer. She helps others achieve reliable results and will share how any company can use Traction’s Bullseye Method to figure out what marketing channel is right for their business.

A recent Q&A with Rhonda offers a sneak peek at what attendees will learn.

Q:  What do you expect the audience to take away from your presentation?
A:  Using the Bullseye Method outlined in Gabriel Weinberg’s book, Traction: A Startup Guide to Getting Customers, attendees will gain a framework to inspire new ideas, eliminate bias for exploring marketing channels, and beat out their competition.

Q:  What is holding companies back from doing what you advocate?
A:  This method was designed for product startups that typically have a limited budget and small marketing teams. Nothing really should hold a company back from trying this method. The goal is to test within your budget constraints, find what’s working, and then optimize. The hardest aspect is gaining buy-in and carving out time to research new tools and resources.

Q:  What will companies gain from what you are advocating?
A:  Ideas often come from “tried-and-true methods” suggested by industry experts, agencies, or reading through countless blogs on the latest marketing trends. Every organization has uniquely different offerings – products, services, or some combination in between. Your team can explore different marketing channels and learn how to test and optimize to find the most effective one versus relying on SWAG (scientific wild-ass guesses) that hopefully (fingers crossed) provide results.

Attendees will learn how to be more scientific. If they don’t achieve results they desire, they at least learn what not to do and to stop spending time and money. On the flip side, if they achieve positive results, they’ll have success and measurable results to optimize and improve upon.

Q:  If you weren’t engaged in your current career, what would you be doing instead?
A:  Bicycling across the United States while living in a camper van with my husband – stopping for coffee, ice cream, and pizza whenever possible.

Q:  What is a hobby you enjoy?
A:  Bicycling and traveling are two of my favorite things. My husband and I met on a bike ride, and we seek out opportunities to combine both these activities whenever possible.

Q:  What is your favorite travel destination?
A:  A white sand beach located near a bike trail.
