Dear AMA Madison membership and the greater Madison marketing community,
This week marks six years of board service to the American Marketing Association, Madison Chapter (AMA Madison.) After working as a volunteer and getting to know multiple facets of the organization, I am incredibly honored to be the President of the Chapter. I look forward to connecting with each of our members and guests this year.
This Chapter’s community has given me many opportunities to learn, practice, and take risks. I’ve been mentored and mentored others and built friendships that I value immensely. I have also met some incredibly smart people here who challenge me to push through and try harder.
I look forward to doing the same for you by supporting and serving 25 board members and volunteers, all who want to build leadership skills and network with the Madison marketing community and learn about and practice cutting edge marketing.
We do not achieve without friends and colleagues.
Thank you to AMPED Association Management’s leadership Lynda Patterson, FASAE, CAE, Emily Petersen, Jeanne Weiss, Donté Shannon FASAE, CAE, for supporting my involvement in the Chapter. My alma mater Edgewood College and marketing Professor Mark Chock, Thanks for the encouragement by my wife Rhonda Veroeven, and for not judging me when I grab a beer at 4 pm on a Tuesday for a Craft Marketing event.
I appreciate the support of Past Presidents Alyssa Spiel and JJ Giese for their mentorship and encouragement, and our entire Board Brooke Barney, Alyssa Spiel, Steven Miller Jim Murphy, CFP®, CTP® Michol Banes, Steve Mintz, Erin Courtenay, Sara Kerwin, Jessica Wagner, MBA, PCM James Roloff, Edessa Grace Polzin Sam Simon, Rissa Guffey and Giovanni Aleman Sotelo.

What’s the 2020-2021 hold for AMA Madison?
This year holds a challenge, of course, with many of us working from home and unable to get together during our Signature Speaker Series and Craft Marketing Series. The thing about marketers is, we adapt, we try new things, and we iterate. Since March, both event types successfully continued online. In fact, at the most recent AMA Madison Craft Marketing event, we had over 100 register and attracted attendees from Florida, Colorado, Nigeria and the Philippines! Go AMA Madison, Go!
We will:
- Hold our Annual Conference (September 24, 2020) virtually and already have an impressive speaker lineup.
- Continue to bring together the brightest minds in marketing and with our neighboring AMA chapters.
- Build relationships with the Greater Madison business community, including chambers of commerce, associations and networking groups.
- Expand our relationship with undergraduate marketing students, including those at the UW Collegiate Chapter and other area schools.
- Build stronger relationships with our current sponsors and expand into new opportunities to bring value to our audience and our supporters.
- Create new volunteer opportunities and maintain a safe place to develop leadership skills and serve on a nonprofit board.
It is going to be a great year of marketing and professional development. I invite you to connect with any of our board and volunteers if you are interested in increasing your involvement with the Chapter.
Let’s have a great year!
Tony Veroeven
2020-2021 President
