On May 8, Kavitha Krishnan, Senior User Experience Strategist at Mattel (American Girl), will help us understand the term “Experience Design.” To do so, we need to look at what experiences really are. Technically, experience can be described as “the sensation of change, the alteration of environment, and the things we can perceive.”
In order to see something new, you have to not see something else – and that is the basis of experience design!
What you can expect:
- Learn about user experience (UX) design and how to create a distinct competitive advantage
- Understand the UX maturity model and identify your organization’s maturity model
- Better understand how experience design can be used to market inexpensively and effectively, create a sense of loyalty, and influence purchase decisions

Kavitha Krishnan is a passionate UX professional who enjoys solving problems, organizing information, and designing interactions. Currently, she is a Senior UX Strategist with Mattel, Inc. in Madison, having also worked for companies like EMC Corporation, Dell, SmartBear, CUNA Mutual Group, and American Family Insurance.
Kavitha has a Master’s Degree in Computer Applications and worked as a software programmer before entering the magical world of UX. She also has Master’s Degrees in Engineering Management (from Tufts University) and in Human Factors in Information Design from Bentley University. She organizes an annual Design conference called “Better By Design” in Madison, and recently formed a local chapter for “Ladies that UX” in Madison.
