Our annual conference has a new location, new theme, and new ideas for 2019! This year’s conference is built around the theme “Elevate with Authenticity,” and will take place on Thursday, September 26 at the beautiful Park Hotel in downtown Madison.

We are excited to have Roshelle Ritzenthaler lead one of our breakout sessions during our conference: “Designing Authentic Experiences”. Roshelle is a design strategist with a background in architecture and a wealth of experience in systems thinking and design. She uses a strategic, research-driven approach to building people-focused services, products, and environments. She successfully merges business and creative objectives in a meaningful way to move design beyond a superficial exercise to one that drives positive change.

Her clients have ranged from early-stage start-ups to global Fortune 50 companies, spanning industries including medical, pharma, financial, insurance, education, non-profit, and tech.  We recently spoke with Roshelle about her upcoming session at our 2019 annual conference.

What do you expect the audience to take away from your presentation, “Designing Authentic Experiences”?

We’ll present a new lens for experience design, including our guiding principles for every experience we design, and the tools to help your organization reflect on what authenticity means to you and your brand.

What is holding companies back from designing authentic experiences?

Many organizations have yet to truly articulate their bold vision for the future and give designers the space to imagine how this might translate into an ecosystem of authentic and intentionally designed ecosystem of experiences.

What is the biggest opportunity companies have to optimize customer experiences?

Thinking like an ecosystem. Many companies only know how manage, collect data and create new experiences within silos, but they don’t have a great view of the end-to-end experience.

If you were not engaged in your current career, what would you be doing instead?

Summer camp coordinator.

What is your favorite pizza?

That’s an easy one: Lou Malnati’s.

What is your favorite travel destination?

Any place that is unlike anything I’ve seen before.
